  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Beef

Description

A comfort food classic, this creamy and savory beef stroganoff comes together in just 30 minutes, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Cook the egg noodles according to package directions, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 6-8 minutes, draining excess fat.
  3. Melt the butter in the same skillet, then whisk in the flour to create a roux. Cook for 2 minutes until golden.
  4. Gradually add the beef broth while whisking to prevent lumps. Allow the mixture to thicken for about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Slowly stir in the milk, mixing until the sauce is smooth and thick (5-7 minutes).
  6. Season the mixture with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  7. Add the cooked egg noodles and browned beef. Stir until heated through.
  8. Incorporate the sour cream until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, sauté mushrooms with the ground beef. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
