Description
A classic ground beef stroganoff recipe that blends tender beef and egg noodles in a rich, creamy sauce, ready in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 ounces egg noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- ¼ cup butter
- ¼ cup flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 ¼ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup sour cream
Instructions
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the egg noodles according to the package directions. Once done, set them aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef. Cook while breaking it up with a spoon until browned, approximately 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat and transfer beef to a plate.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add flour, whisking constantly for about 2 minutes until it forms a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the beef broth, ensuring no lumps form. Continue whisking until the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
- Slowly mix in the milk, stirring over medium heat until the sauce thickens again, around 5-7 minutes. It should be creamy and smooth.
- Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper evenly.
- Reduce heat to low. Add the cooked egg noodles and browned beef, mixing well until everything is heated through.
- Gently stir in the sour cream, blending it into the sauce for a rich, tangy finish.
- Serve hot, enjoying it freshly made, possibly with a side of your favorite vegetables or garlic toast.
Notes
For added flavor, consider incorporating sautéed mushrooms or a splash of Worcestershire sauce. Prepping all ingredients beforehand speeds up the cooking process.
