Description
Delight in these perfectly crispy French toast sticks, soft inside and made easy with the air fryer, perfect for any breakfast occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 slices thick-cut bread (Texas toast or brioche preferred)
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) whole milk or dairy-free alternative
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- Butter or cooking spray (for greasing the air fryer basket)
- Powdered sugar or maple syrup (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- Start by slicing the thick-cut bread into sticks, about 1 to 1.5 inches wide.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture into a shallow dish. Dip each bread stick into this mixture for about 20-30 seconds on each side, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Transfer the soaked sticks to a plate.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
- Lightly grease the air fryer basket with butter or cooking spray.
- Arrange the soaked bread sticks in a single layer in the basket, allowing space for air circulation. If needed, cook in batches.
- Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Once done, remove from the air fryer and serve warm.
Notes
Serve immediately for the best experience. These sticks can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
