Soft and chewy air fryer pretzel bites, perfect for snacking or serving as an appetizer. Quick to prepare and fun to make with kids.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Coarse sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Stir in flour and salt until a dough forms. Knead the dough for a few minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in size.
- Prepare a baking soda solution by dissolving baking soda in a pot of boiling water.
- Boil each pretzel ball for about 30 seconds, then remove and place them on a parchment-lined tray.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the pretzel bites, then sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Air fry in batches for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Ensure water is warm (100°F to 110°F) to activate yeast. Kneading the dough is crucial for chewy bites. You can add garlic powder or cheddar cheese for extra flavor.
