Description

A delightful twist on traditional bread and dessert, filled with spiced apple chunks and drizzled with a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon until well combined.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, beat together the sugar, brown sugar, and butter until creamy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, incorporating them fully into the mixture before adding the next.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract, continuing to mix until well blended.
  6. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the milk until you achieve a smooth batter.
  7. Gently fold in the diced apples, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  8. Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan. If desired, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
  9. Add the remaining batter on top, smoothing it out as necessary.
  10. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Once cooled, whisk together the powdered sugar and enough milk to create a glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the bread before serving.
