Description
Amish Chicken combines comfort and authenticity, featuring tender chicken in a rich, creamy sauce perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6–8 pieces of chicken (thighs, drumsticks, or breasts), cleaned
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 1/2 cups water
Instructions
- Season and coat the chicken: In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Dredge each chicken piece in the mixture, shaking off the excess flour.
- Prepare the baking dish: Grease your baking dish with butter or oil and sprinkle a little of the seasoned flour on the bottom. Arrange the chicken skin side up.
- Mix the cream and water: Combine the heavy whipping cream and water in a bowl, mixing well. Pour this mixture over the chicken, ensuring each piece is generously covered.
- Bake the chicken: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 1.5 hours or until the chicken turns golden brown and the gravy thickens, bubbling beautifully.
- Serve: Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before serving. The creamy gravy pairs perfectly with your favorite side dishes.
Notes
For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken overnight in the cream mixture or adding fresh herbs.
