Description

Ingredients

  • ½ cup softened butter (salted)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk with vinegar)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ⅓ cup sugar (for cinnamon sugar mixture)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF and grease a 9×5 loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter using a hand mixer.
  3. Add granulated and brown sugar; mix until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Add the egg, vanilla, and buttermilk, mixing until fully combined.
  5. Sift together the flour and baking soda; gently fold into the mixture.
  6. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. Pour half the batter into the loaf pan, sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture, and swirl with a knife.
  8. Layer the remaining batter and cinnamon sugar, swirling again with a knife.
  9. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  10. Bake for 50-70 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Let the loaf cool for 20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Pairs well with coffee or tea. Can be stored at room temperature for 3-4 days or frozen for 2-3 months.
