Description

A comforting dish featuring tender beef patties in a rich, creamy gravy, perfect for family dinners and cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • 1 Egg (beaten)
  • 1 Onion (finely diced)
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 3 tbsp Butter (salted or unsalted)
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 Onion (sliced)
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties: In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and black pepper until just combined. Form into 6–8 oval-shaped patties and set aside.
  2. Brown the Patties: Heat an oven-safe skillet on medium-high. Brown the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Onions: In the same skillet, add butter. Melt and sauté the sliced onions until soft.
  4. Create the Gravy: Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir for about 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until thickened.
  5. Nestle the Patties: Gently place the browned patties back into the skillet, covering them with the gravy.
  6. Bake It: Cover the skillet tightly and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  7. Rest and Serve: Let it rest for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Pair with mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the gravy. Great with steamed green beans or salad.
