Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 12 teaspoons salt, to taste
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 ½ medium onions, chopped (about 2 ½ cups)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable oil), as needed

Instructions

  2. Gradually stir in the milk until you achieve a smooth batter.
  3. Fold in the chopped onions until they are well-coated with the batter.
  4. Heat a thin layer of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, flattening them slightly.
  6. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden and crispy.
  7. Drain the fritters on paper towels and serve warm.

Notes

Optional: Add shredded cheese or chopped herbs to the batter for extra flavor. Serve with dips like ranch or sour cream.
