- 1–2 teaspoons salt, to taste
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 ½ medium onions, chopped (about 2 ½ cups)
- Oil for frying (vegetable oil), as needed
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually stir in the milk until you achieve a smooth batter.
- Fold in the chopped onions until they are well-coated with the batter.
- Heat a thin layer of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, flattening them slightly.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden and crispy.
- Drain the fritters on paper towels and serve warm.
Notes
Optional: Add shredded cheese or chopped herbs to the batter for extra flavor. Serve with dips like ranch or sour cream.
