Description
A delightful, soft, and fluffy loaf of Amish Sweet Bread that’s perfect for breakfast or as a comforting dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Warm the milk slightly and add the yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Pour in the melted butter, eggs, activated yeast mixture, and vanilla extract. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough into a greased bowl and cover it with a cloth. Allow it to rise in a warm place for around 60 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until it’s a beautiful golden brown.
- Allow it to cool before slicing. Enjoy!
