Description
An easy and flavorful appetizer featuring crusty bread topped with ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 piece of baguette or Italian bread
- 2 cups ripe tomatoes, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, to taste
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese (or dairy-free cheese for vegan)
- Balsamic glaze, for drizzling
Instructions
- Prepare the Tomato Mixture: In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss gently until well combined.
- Toss the bread: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette or ciabatta into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Place them on a baking sheet and drizzle lightly with olive oil. Toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Assemble the Bruschetta: Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice.
- Add Finishing Touches: Drizzle with balsamic glaze and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
Notes
For leftovers, store the tomato mixture separately from the toasted bread to maintain crispiness.
