Ingredients

  • Pappardelle pasta
  • Ground beef
  • Ground pork
  • Onion, finely chopped
  • Carrot, finely chopped
  • Celery, finely chopped
  • Garlic, minced
  • Canned tomatoes or tomato paste
  • Red wine
  • Olive oil
  • Milk
  • Salt and pepper
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the ground beef and ground pork, browning the meat thoroughly.
  4. Pour in red wine and let it simmer until mostly evaporated, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in the canned tomatoes or tomato paste, and season with salt and pepper. Reduce the heat and let it simmer on low for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add a splash of milk for creaminess before serving.
  7. Cook the pappardelle according to package instructions, drain, and toss it with the Bolognese sauce.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan and fresh herbs.
