Description

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs beef chuck, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 12 oz wide egg noodles
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 whole bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add butter and allow it to melt.
  2. Brown the beef in the skillet for 8-10 minutes until golden.
  3. Pour in 2 cups of beef broth, followed by the salt, pepper, thyme, and bay leaves. Stir to combine and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes until the beef is tender, adding the last cup of broth as it cooks off.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch with 1/4 cup cold water. Stir this mixture into the skillet and let it cook for another 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
  6. While you wait, cook the egg noodles according to package instructions.
  7. Serve the beef mixture over the cooked noodles and enjoy your meal!
