Description
A classic comfort food dish featuring tender beef chunks in a rich gravy, perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- Beef (chuck roast, top round, bottom round, or steak)
- 1 Onion (chopped)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 2 cups Beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons Flour (for thickening)
- 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
Instructions
- Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat cooking oil over medium-high heat.
- Brown the beef on all sides. Once browned, remove it from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened.
- Return the beef to the skillet, then add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
- Bring to a simmer and cover. Cook for 90 minutes, or until the beef becomes tender.
- If you prefer a thicker gravy, mix flour with a bit of water to create a slurry, then stir it into the skillet as it cooks.
- Serve hot over rice or mashed potatoes.
Notes
For a thicker gravy, ensure to simmer longer and consider adding herbs like thyme or bay leaf for added flavor.
