A comforting dish featuring tender beef in a rich, savory gravy. Perfect for cozy weeknights or special gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs beef (chuck roast, top round, or bottom round)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth

  • Optional vegetables (such as carrots or mushrooms)

Instructions

  1. Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces and season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a large skillet or pot over medium heat and brown the beef on all sides.
  3. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.
  4. Sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic in the same skillet until soft and fragrant.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet, sprinkle with flour, and cook for a few more minutes.
  6. Pour in the beef broth, stirring well, and bring to a gentle simmer.
  7. Let it cook for at least 1-2 hours until the beef is tender.
  8. Adjust seasoning and add optional vegetables during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  9. Serve hot over rice or creamy mashed potatoes.

Notes

Searing the meat adds depth to the flavor. Let the dish sit for extra flavor melding.
