Description
Satisfying burger bowls filled with tender beef, crispy potatoes, and fresh toppings, offering a healthier twist on the classic burger.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano or mixed herbs
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2–3 medium potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (divided)
- 500 grams lean beef mince
- Lettuce (shredded)
- Cheese (dairy-free or regular)
- Pickle slices
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon mustard (Dijon or yellow)
- 1 teaspoon pickle juice (from the jar of pickles)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
- In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
- Wash and cut the potatoes into chip shapes. Pat them dry with paper towels.
- Place the potato chips in a large mixing bowl. Toss with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and half of the spice mix, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Arrange the potatoes on a baking tray and bake for 30–40 minutes or until golden and crispy.
- While the potatoes are baking, heat the remaining olive oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add the beef mince, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
- Once browned, add the remaining spice mix and continue cooking until the meat is darkened and any excess moisture has evaporated.
- In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, garlic powder, and smoked paprika for your burger sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- To serve, divide the crispy potato chips among bowls. Top with shredded lettuce, cooked beef mince, cheese, and pickles. Drizzle with the burger sauce and enjoy!
Notes
For a lighter version, swap out the beef for ground turkey or a plant-based meat alternative. You can customize the toppings to suit your taste.
