Description

Satisfying burger bowls filled with tender beef, crispy potatoes, and fresh toppings, offering a healthier twist on the classic burger.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or mixed herbs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 23 medium potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (divided)
  • 500 grams lean beef mince
  • Lettuce (shredded)
  • Cheese (dairy-free or regular)
  • Pickle slices
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (Dijon or yellow)
  • 1 teaspoon pickle juice (from the jar of pickles)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Wash and cut the potatoes into chip shapes. Pat them dry with paper towels.
  4. Place the potato chips in a large mixing bowl. Toss with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and half of the spice mix, ensuring they are well-coated.
  5. Arrange the potatoes on a baking tray and bake for 30–40 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  6. While the potatoes are baking, heat the remaining olive oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add the beef mince, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  7. Once browned, add the remaining spice mix and continue cooking until the meat is darkened and any excess moisture has evaporated.
  8. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, garlic powder, and smoked paprika for your burger sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  9. To serve, divide the crispy potato chips among bowls. Top with shredded lettuce, cooked beef mince, cheese, and pickles. Drizzle with the burger sauce and enjoy!

Notes

For a lighter version, swap out the beef for ground turkey or a plant-based meat alternative. You can customize the toppings to suit your taste.
