Description
A flavorful dish with a glossy, caramelized exterior and fragrant, savory-sweet marinade. It’s an easy recipe that delivers bold flavors perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, blend the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil.
- Place the chicken thighs in a resealable plastic bag. Pour half of the marinade over the chicken, seal the bag, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for a more robust flavor. Store the remaining marinade in the fridge.
- Remove the chicken from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the chicken thighs on it.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked.
- While the chicken is baking, transfer the reserved marinade to a saucepan. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until it thickens.
- Brush the cooked chicken with the thickened marinade. Broil the chicken for an additional 2-3 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
- Once caramelized and slightly charred, remove from the oven, allow it to rest for a few minutes, slice, and serve.
Notes
Marinate overnight for a deeper flavor. Feel free to add red pepper flakes for a spicier kick.
