Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add in the chopped onion and ground beef. Cook until the beef is browned, then drain any excess grease.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the cooked beef mixture, and half of the cheese. Repeat the layers once more.
  5. Pour the soup mixture over the layered casserole.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.

Notes

For added flavor, consider incorporating spices like garlic powder or paprika. This dish can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
