Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 cups potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil or butter for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat some olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until they turn translucent.
  3. Introduce the ground beef to the skillet and brown it thoroughly. Drain any excess fat.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup with the milk until it’s smooth and combined.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom, followed by half of the browned beef mixture.
  6. Pour half of the soup mixture over these layers.
  7. Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, ground beef, and soup mixture. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  8. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve with a fresh garden salad or crusty bread. Consider adding hot sauce or sour cream for extra flavor.
