Description
A decadently rich dessert that combines fudgy brownies with light chocolate mousse, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, melt the butter, then whisk in the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until combined.
- Add the eggs one by one, ensuring to mix well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gently fold in the flour and salt until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
- For the mousse, whip the heavy cream in a separate bowl until soft peaks form.
- Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, then let cool slightly.
- Carefully fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream until you achieve a smooth mixture.
- Spread the mousse over the cooled brownies and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Once set, cut into squares and serve, perhaps adding a drizzle of chocolate ganache for an extra touch of elegance.
Notes
You can substitute unsweetened cocoa powder with Dutch-process cocoa and use coconut oil instead of butter for a dairy-free option.
