Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture and sour cream, starting and ending with the flour. Mix just until combined.
  6. Stir in the milk until the batter is smooth.
  7. Blend brown sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Drizzle melted butter into the mixture and stir until a paste forms.
  8. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of batter into each cupcake liner. Top with a spoonful of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

  10. Top with another heaping tablespoon of batter, filling liners about two-thirds full.
