Description

Deliciously soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls that bring warmth and comfort for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) of active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a big bowl, mix together melted butter, sugar, eggs, and salt. Add the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually stir in the flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. In another bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
  7. After the dough has risen, roll it into a large rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  8. Spread melted butter over the dough, leaving a little edge on one side.
  9. Sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture over the butter.
  10. Starting from the edge without the butter, roll the dough tightly into a log shape.
  11. Slice the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces and place in a greased baking dish, cut side up.
  12. Cover the rolls again and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  13. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  14. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  15. While baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
  16. Once the rolls are done, let cool for about 5 minutes and drizzle icing over the warm rolls.

Notes

These cinnamon rolls can be served plain, with fruit, or topped with nut butter. They also freeze well for later enjoyment.
