  • 2 tsp olive oil (for sautéing)

Instructions

  1. Cook the penne: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add your penne pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain, reserving 1 cup of the pasta water.
  2. Sauté aromatics: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, sauté the diced onion and minced garlic for about 5 minutes until fragrant and the onion is translucent.
  3. Cook the beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned, about 7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Create the sauce: Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Gradually incorporate the reserved pasta water until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  5. Combine: Gently toss the cooked penne with the sauce in the skillet until well-coated.
  6. Serve: Enjoy hot, garnished with extra Parmesan or fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, serve with garlic bread and a green salad. You can also add fresh herbs or red pepper flakes to elevate the dish.
