  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A comforting bowl of pasta with velvety sauce infused with caramelized onions and a hint of chili oil.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Fettuccine or spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or plant-based alternative)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 teaspoons chili oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  4. Lower the heat, mix in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until creamy.
  5. Season the sauce with salt, pepper, and chili oil to taste.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss with the sauce.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

For a vegan option, replace heavy cream with plant-based cream and ensure pasta is egg-free. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
