A quick and satisfying meal of smoked sausage combined with a rich, creamy sauce over perfectly cooked penne pasta.

- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the penne according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened and fragrant.
- Stir in the sliced smoked sausage and cook for 5-7 minutes until it starts to brown.
- Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine. Add Italian seasoning and paprika, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cooked penne to the skillet, tossing to coat in the creamy sauce. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese and let it melt before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
Storing leftovers is simple. It will keep well in the fridge for up to three days. You can freeze it, but the texture may change slightly. Always reheat thoroughly until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
