Description
Delightful and crispy apple fries made in an air fryer, offering a healthier twist on a sweet treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or any favorite variety)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Cooking spray
For the Dipping Sauce (optional):
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
Instructions
- Prepare the Apples: Slice the apples into wedges about 1/2 inch thick, removing the core and seeds.
- Make the Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture: In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and sugar—set aside.
- Set Up the Breading Station: Place the flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and mix half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture into the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Coat the Apple Slices: Dredge each apple wedge in flour, dip into the egg, then press into the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat until all slices are coated.
- Air Fry: Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the breaded apple slices in a single layer, spray lightly with cooking spray, and air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway until golden brown.
- Serve: Sprinkle remaining cinnamon-sugar on top and serve immediately with caramel sauce or yogurt.
