Description
Delightful and healthy apple fries made in an air fryer, perfect for snacking or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Cooking spray
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (optional)
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (optional for a lighter option)
Instructions
- Prepare the Apples: Peel the apples if desired, slice them into wedges about 1/2 inch thick, and core them to remove the seeds.
- Mix the Cinnamon-Sugar: In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and sugar. Set it aside.
- Set Up the Breading Station: Arrange three bowls — one with flour, another with beaten eggs, and a third with panko breadcrumbs. Mix half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture into the breadcrumbs.
- Coat the Apple Slices: Dredge each apple slice in flour, dip it in the egg, and then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Ensure each slice is evenly coated.
- Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for approximately 3 minutes. Place the breaded apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray them with cooking spray. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture over the hot apple fries for a finishing touch. Serve immediately with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.
