Description

Warm, crispy apple cinnamon French toast sticks that are easy to make and perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz Thick-Cut Brioche or Challah
  • 2 cups Diced Apples
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • ¼ cup Apple Cider
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon (for coating)
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground Nutmeg (optional)
  • ¾ cup Rolled Oats
  • ¼ cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Melted Butter
  • ¼ cup Pure Maple Syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Apple Butter
  • Sea Salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, apple cider, granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of sea salt.
  3. Dip each slice of brioche into the custard mixture, coating both sides.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix rolled oats, all-purpose flour, and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.
  5. Roll the soaked bread sticks in the oat-flour mixture until fully coated.
  6. Place the coated sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or in a greased skillet.
  7. If baking, drizzle melted butter over the sticks and bake for 15-20 minutes until crispy and golden. If pan-frying, cook until golden brown on each side.
  8. Serve warm with pure maple syrup and a dollop of apple butter.

Notes

For best flavor, let the bread soak in the custard for at least a minute. You can also add vanilla extract to the custard for enhanced flavor.
