- 8 oz Thick-Cut Brioche or Challah
- 2 cups Diced Apples
- 2 large Eggs
- 1 cup Whole Milk
- ¼ cup Apple Cider
- 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon (for coating)
- ¼ teaspoon Ground Nutmeg (optional)
- ¾ cup Rolled Oats
- ¼ cup All-Purpose Flour
- 2 tablespoons Melted Butter
- ¼ cup Pure Maple Syrup
- 2 tablespoons Apple Butter
- Sea Salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat a skillet over medium heat.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, apple cider, granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of sea salt.
- Dip each slice of brioche into the custard mixture, coating both sides.
- In a separate bowl, mix rolled oats, all-purpose flour, and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.
- Roll the soaked bread sticks in the oat-flour mixture until fully coated.
- Place the coated sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or in a greased skillet.
- If baking, drizzle melted butter over the sticks and bake for 15-20 minutes until crispy and golden. If pan-frying, cook until golden brown on each side.
- Serve warm with pure maple syrup and a dollop of apple butter.
Notes
For best flavor, let the bread soak in the custard for at least a minute. You can also add vanilla extract to the custard for enhanced flavor.
