Description
A quick and delicious dish that combines sweet honey and bold garlic for an explosion of flavor, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
- Vegetable or canola oil, enough to fill your skillet about 1 inch
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Pinch of salt
- 4 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Toasted sesame seeds for garnish
- Sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) to keep your chicken warm while you fry the batches.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil, placing a rack inside if available.
- In a saucepan, combine honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and black pepper. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a skillet until hot enough for frying (around 350°F/175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together egg whites, cornstarch, and salt.
- Dip each piece of chicken in the egg mixture, then coat with cornstarch.
- Fry the chicken in batches for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Transfer cooked chicken to the baking sheet in the oven while finishing the rest.
- Toss the crispy chicken in the prepared sauce until well coated.
- Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
For a healthier option, consider baking the chicken instead of frying. To maximize crispiness, ensure the oil is hot enough.
