Ingredients

  • Firm Tofu: 400 grams (14 oz)
  • Honey: 4 tablespoons (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
  • Garlic: 4 cloves, minced
  • Soy Sauce: 3 tablespoons
  • Cornstarch: 1/2 cup
  • Sesame Oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Green Onions: 2, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame Seeds: 2 tablespoons (for garnish)
  • Vegetable Oil: for frying (about 1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Press and drain the tofu for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Cut tofu into uniform bite-sized cubes.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
  4. Coat each tofu cube in cornstarch.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry tofu cubes for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Drain fried tofu on a paper towel lined plate.
  8. In the skillet, add the honey garlic sauce and simmer for about a minute.
  9. Toss crispy tofu in the sauce to coat.

Notes

Ensure the tofu is well-pressed for perfect crunch. Don’t skip the cornstarch for crispy texture.
