Ingredients
- Firm Tofu: 400 grams (14 oz)
- Honey: 4 tablespoons (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
- Garlic: 4 cloves, minced
- Soy Sauce: 3 tablespoons
- Cornstarch: 1/2 cup
- Sesame Oil: 2 tablespoons
- Green Onions: 2, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame Seeds: 2 tablespoons (for garnish)
- Vegetable Oil: for frying (about 1 cup)
Instructions
- Press and drain the tofu for 15-20 minutes.
- Cut tofu into uniform bite-sized cubes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
- Coat each tofu cube in cornstarch.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Fry tofu cubes for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain fried tofu on a paper towel lined plate.
- In the skillet, add the honey garlic sauce and simmer for about a minute.
- Toss crispy tofu in the sauce to coat.
Notes
Ensure the tofu is well-pressed for perfect crunch. Don’t skip the cornstarch for crispy texture.
