Description
A simple yet flavorful dish featuring crispy tofu coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 400 grams (14 oz) firm tofu
- 4 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- Vegetable oil for frying (about 1 cup)
Instructions
- Press and Cube: Drain the firm tofu and place it under a weight for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut the tofu into uniform, bite-sized cubes.
- Mix the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
- Coat the Tofu: Roll each tofu cube in cornstarch for even coating.
- Fry the Tofu: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Drain the Oil: Transfer the crispy tofu to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Combine with Sauce: Return the skillet to medium heat, pour in the sauce, let it simmer, then toss the crispy tofu until well coated.
Notes
For extra crispiness, consider double coating the tofu with cornstarch and use an air fryer for reheating leftovers.
