  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegan

Description

Crispy Oven Baked Sweet Potatoes are a healthy and delicious alternative to traditional fries, perfect as a side dish or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch thick fries
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked paprika for added depth)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F) and place a baking sheet inside to heat up.
  2. Peel the sweet potatoes (if preferred) and cut them into uniform 1/4 inch thick fries.
  3. Soak the fries in a bowl of cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  4. Drain and pat the fries dry with a paper towel.
  5. Toss the fries with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl. If using cornstarch, add it now.
  6. Carefully spread the fries in a single layer on the hot baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For the crispiest fries, do not skip the soaking step. Spread fries in a single layer to avoid steaming.
