Description

A comforting and flavorful dish that combines the essence of pizza with easy preparation in a crockpot.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef (93% lean)
  • 12 ounces uncooked rotini pasta
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 20 slices turkey pepperoni
  • Optional: 1/2 cup sliced black olives or mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. In a 6-quart crockpot, combine cooked beef, marinara sauce, beef broth, chopped onion, green bell pepper, and Italian seasoning; mix until well integrated.
  4. Stir in uncooked rotini pasta until fully coated with the sauce.
  5. Layer half of the turkey pepperoni on top of the pasta mixture.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours, stirring halfway through.
  7. When pasta is tender, sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top and add remaining pepperoni slices.
  8. Cover and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese melts.

Notes

Feel free to swap ingredients based on preference. For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with vegetables.
