Crying Tiger Beef

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Paleo

Description

A flavorful Thai dish featuring marinated beef steak grilled to perfection, offering a burst of savory and spicy flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef steak (flank steak or sirloin)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 23 Thai bird chilies (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
  • Sliced cucumbers (for serving)
  • Sticky rice (to accompany)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, lime juice, minced garlic, and chopped chilies.
  2. Place your steak in the marinade, ensuring it is well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes—overnight is even better for maximum flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill or skillet over high heat and add vegetable oil to avoid sticking.
  4. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill it for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Cook longer if needed for your preferred doneness.
  5. Once done, let the steak rest for a few minutes to retain the juices.
  6. Slice the beef thinly against the grain and serve on a platter, garnished with fresh cilantro.

Notes

For spicier options, adjust the number of Thai bird chilies used. Serve with cucumber slices and sticky rice for a complete meal.
