- 1 onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup green olives, sliced
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Cooked white rice for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and bell pepper; sauté until softened, about 4-5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef, cooking until browned, about 6-8 minutes.
- Mix in the diced tomatoes, olives, raisins, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Serve hot over cooked white rice.
Notes
For added flavor, let the picadillo sit for a day before serving. You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
