Description

A creamy and crunchy green bean casserole that’s perfect for any gathering, from holidays to weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Blanch the green beans in salted boiling water for 4-5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, whole milk, soy sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper until combined.
  4. Gently fold in the blanched green beans until they’re well coated in the soup mixture.
  5. Add half of the crispy fried onions and stir gently.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish, spreading it out evenly.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until it’s bubbling and heated through.
  8. Remove from the oven, top with the remaining crispy fried onions, and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes for that golden crisp.
  9. Let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For the best texture, do not over-blanch the green beans. Can substitute cream of mushroom soup with a homemade version for a gourmet touch.
