Description

A comforting and flavorful stuffing recipe that brings back cherished holiday memories.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups cubed bread (sourdough or French)
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • 2 cups celery, finely chopped (about 34 stalks)
  • 2 tbsp sage, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp thyme, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp rosemary, finely chopped
  • 4 cups low-sodium broth (chicken or vegetable)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (1 stick)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the diced onion and chopped celery, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in the fresh herbs and sauté for another 2 minutes to release their aroma.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed bread, sautéed mixture, broth, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is evenly coated.
  6. Transfer the stuffing into a greased baking dish and cover with foil.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until golden brown on top.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use stale bread for better absorption and texture. Can be prepared in advance and stored in the fridge.
