A simple and flavorful crusty bread recipe that requires no kneading and delivers impressive results.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups warm water (approximately 100 degrees F)
- 1 packet of yeast (2.25 teaspoons, active dry or instant)
- 1 ½ teaspoons fine grain salt
- 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the warm water, yeast, and salt until mostly dissolved.
- Add the flour all at once and stir until the mixture is wet and sticky.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for 2-3 hours until doubled in size.
- About 30-60 minutes before baking, preheat your oven to 450°F, placing the Dutch oven inside to heat up.
- On a floured parchment paper, scrape the dough out and shape it gently into a loaf.
- Cut a few slits in the top if desired, then carefully place it in the preheated Dutch oven and cover with the lid.
- Bake with the lid on for 35 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Store bread in a bread box or paper bag for up to 2-3 days; freeze wrapped tightly for up to 3 months.
