Description
A quick and easy homemade chocolate pudding that brings back childhood memories with its creamy richness and delightful flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (35g) cornstarch
- 1/4 cup (20g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 & 1/4 cups (540mL) milk
- 2 tablespoons (30g) unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium-sized saucepot, combine the sugar, cornstarch, cocoa powder, and salt. Whisk together until evenly mixed.
- Gradually add the milk, whisking after each addition to keep the mixture smooth.
- Place the pot over medium heat. Cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens (around 8 to 10 minutes).
- Remove from heat. Whisk in the butter and vanilla extract until completely melted and combined.
- Pour the pudding into a heat-safe bowl and cover it with plastic wrap, ensuring the wrap is pressed against the surface to prevent a skin from forming.
- Let it cool to your desired temperature before serving.
Notes
Feel free to customize by adding toppings like whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or using different types of milk for a dairy-free option.
