  • 2 tablespoons (30g) unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized saucepot, combine the sugar, cornstarch, cocoa powder, and salt. Whisk together until evenly mixed.
  2. Gradually add the milk, whisking after each addition to keep the mixture smooth.
  3. Place the pot over medium heat. Cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens (around 8 to 10 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat. Whisk in the butter and vanilla extract until completely melted and combined.
  5. Pour the pudding into a heat-safe bowl and cover it with plastic wrap, ensuring the wrap is pressed against the surface to prevent a skin from forming.
  6. Let it cool to your desired temperature before serving.
