Easy Homemade Hamburger Helper

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Beef

Description

This easy Homemade Hamburger Helper is a comforting, cheesy pasta dish made with ground beef, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz pasta (elbow macaroni or shells)
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups broth (beef or chicken)
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Any preferred spices

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the diced onion and minced garlic until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are tender.
  2. Drain any excess grease. Stir in the pasta, broth, milk, and seasonings. Bring to a gentle boil.
  3. Reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has absorbed, about 10-12 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  5. Scoop onto plates and enjoy!

Notes

Pairs well with a green salad or garlic bread. For a creamier texture, add a splash of heavy cream before serving.
