Description
This easy Homemade Hamburger Helper is a comforting, cheesy pasta dish made with ground beef, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz pasta (elbow macaroni or shells)
- 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups broth (beef or chicken)
- 1 cup milk
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Any preferred spices
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the diced onion and minced garlic until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are tender.
- Drain any excess grease. Stir in the pasta, broth, milk, and seasonings. Bring to a gentle boil.
- Reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has absorbed, about 10-12 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
- Scoop onto plates and enjoy!
Notes
Pairs well with a green salad or garlic bread. For a creamier texture, add a splash of heavy cream before serving.
