Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, mix together the cornstarch, sugar, and salt.
  2. Slowly whisk in the eggnog until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until it thickens and begins to boil.
  4. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the egg yolks. Incorporate the vanilla extract, ground nutmeg, and butter until everything is well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into serving dishes.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
  7. Serve chilled, garnished with extra nutmeg or whipped cream if desired.

Notes
