Ingredients

- 2 cups eggnog
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 large egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- In a saucepan, mix together the cornstarch, sugar, and salt.
- Slowly whisk in the eggnog until the mixture is smooth.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until it thickens and begins to boil.
- Remove the pan from heat and stir in the egg yolks. Incorporate the vanilla extract, ground nutmeg, and butter until everything is well combined.
- Pour the mixture into serving dishes.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
- Serve chilled, garnished with extra nutmeg or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. Do not freeze.
