Description
A light and airy dessert topped with caramelized apples and cinnamon whipped cream, perfect for autumn gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 egg whites
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon vinegar
- 2 apples, peeled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 275°F (135°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add granulated sugar, whisking continuously until stiff peaks appear. Stir in vanilla, cornstarch, and vinegar until well combined.
- Spread the meringue onto the lined baking sheet in a circular shape, making a well in the center for toppings.
- Bake for 1 hour. Turn off the oven and allow the pavlova to cool completely inside.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook until apples are tender and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, beat heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Once the pavlova is cool, transfer it to a serving plate. Fill the center with whipped cream and top with caramelized apples. Serve immediately.
Notes
For a twist, consider adding nuts or a berry compote. Best served fresh. Store meringue separately from toppings.
