Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually add buttermilk, stirring gently until the dough comes together.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently until smooth.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1 inch thick and cut into biscuits with a biscuit cutter.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm.
