Description

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 packet Active Dry Yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 3/4 cup Warm Water
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
  • 4 tablespoons Garlic Butter
  • Fresh Herbs (optional, like rosemary or thyme)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Wait for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Combine with the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Punch down the risen dough and stretch it into a greased cast-iron skillet.
  7. Spread the garlic butter evenly over the top and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella.
  8. Create dimples in the surface of the dough with your fingers.
  9. Allow it to rise again for 20 minutes.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.
