- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 packet Active Dry Yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 3/4 cup Warm Water
- 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
- 4 tablespoons Garlic Butter
- Fresh Herbs (optional, like rosemary or thyme)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Wait for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Combine with the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Punch down the risen dough and stretch it into a greased cast-iron skillet.
- Spread the garlic butter evenly over the top and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella.
- Create dimples in the surface of the dough with your fingers.
- Allow it to rise again for 20 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.
Notes
Store leftovers at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days. For longer storage, wrap tightly and freeze for up to 3 months.
