Description
A fast and flavorful meal combining tender steak with savory noodles in a rich garlic butter sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb flank steak, sirloin, or ribeye (thinly sliced against the grain)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional but recommended)
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 8 oz fresh or dried noodles (udon, ramen, or spaghetti)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Green onions (chopped, for garnish)
- Red chili slices (for garnish)
- Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
Instructions
- Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, mix the thinly sliced steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Cook the Noodles: Prepare the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Sear the Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak and sear for 1-2 minutes on each side until browned. Remove it from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining vegetable oil and butter. Once the butter is melted, sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger for about 30 seconds. Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, beef broth, and optional red pepper flakes. Simmer for 1-2 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Combine Everything: Return the seared steak to the skillet, and add the cooked noodles. Toss everything together until the noodles are well-coated and heated through.
- Garnish and Serve: Serve the noodles in bowls, topping with sesame seeds, green onions, chili slices, or fresh cilantro as desired.
Notes
For maximum tenderness, slice the steak against the grain. Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
