- 8 ounces dried pasta noodles (spaghetti, fettuccine, or any favorite)
- 4 tablespoons butter, divided
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and ground black pepper, to taste
- Chopped parsley, optional for garnish
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.
- Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about 3/4 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta.
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over low heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté gently, stirring frequently, until fragrant.
- Toss the drained pasta into the skillet, coating it thoroughly with the garlic butter using tongs.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese until it melts and coats the noodles.
- Add a few spoonfuls of the reserved pasta water along with the remaining tablespoon of butter and toss well.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste, toss again, and serve immediately topped with additional Parmesan and chopped parsley, if desired.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, substitute Parmesan with a vegan cheese alternative.
