Description
A delightful bread infused with garlic and fresh herbs, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
- ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil (divided)
- 2 tsp salt
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh rosemary or thyme, chopped
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit until frothy for about 5 minutes.
- Add the flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm area until it doubles in size, approximately 1 hour.
- Once risen, gently punch down the dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet, stretching it into a rectangle.
- Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the dough and create dimples in the surface with your fingers. Top with minced garlic and herbs.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake the focaccia for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
For variations, try adding cheese, olives, or different herbs for added flavor.
