Description

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (about 100-110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 to cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon butter (split for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about a minute until foamy.
  2. Stir in salt, herbs, and garlic until well blended.
  3. Add 2 cups flour and grated Parmesan, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Gradually incorporate more flour until dough is soft and stretchy.
  5. Lightly oil another bowl, place dough inside, cover, and let rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet with olive oil.
  7. Once risen, punch down the dough, divide into two balls, and shape into rounds on the baking sheet.
  8. Cover loosely and let rise again for 15-20 minutes.
  9. Brush half a tablespoon of butter on each round before baking.
  10. Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.
  11. Remove from oven, transfer to a cooling rack, and cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add fresh herbs or grated Parmesan on top before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze sliced for up to 3 months.
