Description

A delicious Italian dish featuring savory meat rolls stuffed with breadcrumbs, garlic, and herbs, simmered in a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Flank Steak or Sirloin (thinly sliced and pounded)
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs (use gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup Parsley (fresh, minced)
  • 1/4 cup Basil (fresh, chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (preferably extra virgin)
  • 1 medium Onion (chopped)
  • 28 ounces Crushed Tomatoes (canned or fresh)
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano (dried)
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar (optional)
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your steak by pounding the thin slices to ensure tenderness and even cooking.
  2. Mix the breadcrumbs, minced garlic, parsley, and basil in a bowl to create the filling.
  3. Take about a tablespoon of the filling and place it at one end of the steak slice. Roll the steak tightly around the filling and secure it with twine or toothpicks.
  4. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and brown the braciole on all sides.
  5. Remove the braciole and sauté the chopped onion in the same pan until golden. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, and optional sugar. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Return the braciole to the sauce and let it simmer for about 45 minutes.
  7. Once done, remove the braciole, slice, and serve with the sauce drizzled over the top.

Notes

For added flavor, consider marinating the steak in olive oil, garlic, and balsamic vinegar before cooking.
