Description
A quick and flavorful dish combining protein-rich ground beef and vibrant broccoli, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger (optional)
- Cooked rice or quinoa for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the onion softens.
- Add broccoli florets to the skillet along with soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), brown sugar, and beef broth.
- If you’d like a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with a small amount of water to create a slurry and stir it in.
- Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes until the broccoli is tender and the sauce thickens.
- If desired, stir in sesame oil and grated ginger. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the beef and broccoli over cooked rice or quinoa, and enjoy!
Notes
Don’t overcook the broccoli to retain its bright color and crispness. Taste as you go to adjust seasoning.
